Amongst all the doom and gloom of the economic news, it’s about time we heard some positive news; well UK car Production is actually up. Even more promisingly Paul Everitt (SMMT chief executive) said, “The September 2011 production increases confirm a positive trend we expect to continue into 2012.”
In total 136,051 cars were produced last month, which is a 7.5pc increase on the same time last year. To add to this commercial vehicle production was up 6.2pc at 12,046, and engine production was up 6.6pc at 244,270.
But why the positive increases? Well Paul Everitt puts it down to, “Major new investment by vehicle manufacturers [which] is opening up opportunities for UK-based suppliers, helping to drive the economic recovery and private sector investments.”
UK production is looking fairly healthy and seems to be heading in the right direction as well; fingers crossed the new gets even better this time next year!
