SsangYong the Korean brand is making its comeback in September, after it restructured in late 2010, with Mahindra & Mahindra the Indian Motor Company.
SsangYong will initially re-launch the range with its new Korando. The Korando is a crossover specifically designed to appeal to the European market. It will come with a choice of specifications and be selected in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive versions.
The three specifications available on the Korando are the S, ES, or EX, all come with the same 173bhp 2.0-litre diesel. The CO2 emissions are 157g/km.
The S trimmed model will start from £16,995 and features cruise control, ESP with hill start assist, and reverse parking sensors. The ES and EX models have climate control, a sunroof, leather and heated seats.
Paul Williams CEO of SsangYong Motor UK said: “Korando is a great value proposition, and arrives in the highly competitive crossover market at absolutely the right time. Very keenly priced, a comprehensive list of standard equipment, excellent towing capability and thanks to its long wheelbase a spacious and airy interior, Korando is the clever choice for families and those who tow a caravan, horsebox or trailer.”
With competition from (amongst others) the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage, and the Hyundai ix35, the sector is really heating up.
