A report from British Car Auctions (BCA) has shown that July used car values were down 0.5% on the previous month, with sales volumes also down at 5.5 per cent. The fall in value is greater when compared with the same month a year ago (2.6%).
So this could point to a good time to buy a used car and to pick up a bargain. Often there is a slow down in the summer months so dealers are more selective in the vehicles they stock, and price them accordingly.
In September dealer stock, and therefore choice, greatly increases when they take in their part exchanges from the new registration plate (61) change. So better prices with increased choice could mean now is the best time to get a used car bargain from your local dealer.
Many of these part exchanges will be one owner, and have been supplied and maintained by the same dealer, therefore they can often be amongst the best quality used cars on the market. It can make it much easier to ensure the mileage, condition and general provenance are all genuine.
Buying a used car can be quite daunting so anything that aids peace of mind is a real benefit. Just make sure you get a good warranty too!
