For a car to make me love it, it has to be beautiful. Sure, if it sounds beautiful and drives like a dream that helps, but really it is the aesthetics of the thing that pushes my buttons. I love cars to be sleek and sexy. There should be a curve and slide to the design that just oozes expense, a certain feminine shape that just looks gorgeous. At the same time, however, I like a car to have a little power to it. Too many curves and too much delicacy ends up putting me off – I like oomph, and a bit of “grr”. It is why I like muscle cars – they are stylish and elegant, yet at the same time their sharp angles give them an ostentatious hint at the mighty power that lies beneath the bonnet. They are, for wont of a better word, “FIT”!
There aren’t many cars that tick all these boxes for me. I’ve always loved the modern Mustang and the Chevvy Camaro, because they have that chunky yet feminine design. However, now Aston Martin have entered the arena with a car that, quite frankly, leaves all others floundering in the shallows. The car in question? The Aston Martin V12 Zagato, now shown off in all it’s glory at the Concorso d’Eleganza on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. Oh, and it was voted best in class in the the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes, which means it seems my opinion is right!
