So, what does it take to be a winner of a prize like this? Well, you need to make sure that you aren’t just following the crowd and hoping that it works. Sitting back and letting other people come up with the innovations for you just won’t cut it when you are trying to get ahead of the game – which is probably why BMW place so much effort on their EfficientDynamics system. Indeed, they have rolled this out all across all their cars rather than just on a couple of token offerings.

From the horses mouth itself, Paul Clarke, Founder and Managing Editor of, said: “In keeping with Green-Car-Guide’s core philosophy, the focus of our award is on best-in-class low emission cars, but the cars should also be great to drive, so the BMW Group offers an ideal range of vehicles to meet the criteria of the award. It is a worthy winner as it has achieved all of this without demanding a surcharge of its customers for the measures.”

Nice to see BMW win this award… they have the bucks and the brains to keep going with this initiative. The regenerative braking technology they have in the new 7’s and 5’s are really cool. Hopefully they will bring that to the lower tiers of their brand like the 1’s and the 3’s.
