It isn’t the first time that a frustrated resident in an area where people drive very fast has decided to take the law into their own hands. After all, speed cameras are costly to install, and councils generally tend to be at one of the two extremes. They either cover the entire place in speed cameras and traffic monitors, or they are reluctant to put up any at all.
Whether or not you agree with Speed cameras is largely irrelevant – they are here to stay and people should be adjusting their speed accordingly. Ideally noone should have been speeding in the first place, but I myself an not naive enough to believe that this would ever be the case. It does worry me, however, that people tend to forget that the car they are driving is potentially very dangerous, and for that reason I tend to come down on the side of the speed camera supporters – if you don’t like the cameras, that is your problem!
Of course if you are in a very dangerous area that doesn’t have a speed camera, then you may be at a loss for what to do. Well, a man in England has decided to take matters into his own hands, and I salute his effort!
As this winter has been cold, this man decided to kill two birds with one stone, no pun intended, At the end of his garden near the road he has built a large and secure bird box, to help keep all the little creatures warm and safe through winter. At the same time, he painted this bright yellow, and has made it look suspiciously like a speed camera.
People who drive past automatically slow down thinking it is a camera, whilst baby birds get to grow up somewhere a little mroe secure and toasty than up a tree! It is the bes tof both worlds!
