Although the world has been in the grips of a global recession for all too many months, the car industry hasn’t been hit quite as hard as we expected. The dips in sales were significant, but they were also recoverable from for most large car companies – meaning that 2009 was simply a year that called for sticking it out and hoping for the best.
Now it seems like the worst is past us. German car manufacturers, of the likes of BMW and Audi, have reported German car exports rose by more than a half in March compared with a year earlier. They certainly aren’t back at the sales/export levels that we could have seen in the years before the recession – but the experts in the industry expect us to be back up to that point by 2011 if all goes well.
It seems that the worst of the recession is past us – and may well be receeding!
